Traffic Diversion on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway for Repairs

The Federal Ministry of Works has issued a travel advisory for motorists due to traffic diversions on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway for repairs on the Kara Bridge. The maintenance work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, and is expected to last approximately two weeks, concluding on March 24, 2026.

During this period, motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes, such as Ikorodu, Sagamu, and Ijebu Ode, to avoid traffic congestion. The ministry cautioned that while these alternative routes may be shorter, they may not necessarily be the fastest.

Motorists are advised to plan their journeys early and drive cautiously around the work zone. The ministry expressed regret for any temporary inconvenience caused by the partial closure, which is necessary to resume critical rehabilitation work on the Kara Bridge, following public complaints about prolonged traffic congestion in Ogun State.

Michael Komolaf, the Federal Controller of Works, assured the public of improved traffic management arrangements during the repairs.
