FG Announces Kara Bridge Maintenance from March 10-24, 2026

The Federal Government of Nigeria will begin maintenance work on Kara Bridge, which is outbound from Lagos, starting on March 10, 2026, and continuing until March 24, 2026. This maintenance will involve temporary partial closures of the bridge, which may significantly affect traffic flow along the outbound Lagos corridor.

Engr. Olayiwola Komolaf, who reported for Channel Television, stated that the repair work aims to replace damaged expansion joints on the bridge, a critical step to ensure its safety, stability, and durability.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution around the work zone and plan their journeys ahead of time to accommodate potential delays. The Federal Ministry of Works has expressed gratitude to the public for their understanding during the repair period and has recommended alternative routes for motorists.

This maintenance follows a previous announcement in May 2025 regarding short-term palliative repairs on the Kei Bridge along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, with a full-scale rehabilitation plan awaiting approval as of February 2026.
