FG and Doctors Without Borders Collaborate on Health Aid

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Minister Abubakar Bagudu, hosted a high-level meeting with Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF) to discuss renewing their cooperation agreement aimed at bolstering humanitarian operations across Nigeria. Bagudu reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts, acknowledging challenges such as limited infrastructure, weak laboratory capacity, and insufficient emergency services that affect healthcare delivery, especially in northern states.

He emphasized the need for better management of public resources and highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen the health system. Dr.

Pitchou Kayemb, MSF's country director, expressed gratitude for the collaboration and reiterated MSF's commitment to providing life-saving humanitarian services. The meeting underscored the importance of renewing the cooperation agreement to prevent interruptions in essential services benefiting communities across Nigeria.

The partnership has been significant since MSF's involvement in Nigeria began in 1996, currently implementing healthcare projects in 11 states, including Zamfara, Sokoto, and Borno.
