Federal Government Launches Skills Training in Three States
The Federal Government has expanded the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS) to Enugu, Oyo, and Kebbi states, with a target of training 600 youths in practical and market-driven skills. This initiative, implemented by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education (OSSAP-TVEE), is part of a broader effort to lift 100 million Nigerians out of poverty within 10 years.
Dr Abiola Arogundade, Senior Special Assistant to the President on TVEE, stated that this program aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The pilot phase, launched on June 30, 2025, attracted over 7,000 applications.
The national rollout will cover all six geopolitical zones, with each zone hosting 200 trainees. Training in Oyo will begin on September 28, 2026, focusing on graphics and AI design, makeup, and fashion.
Enugu will offer training in makeup and solar energy, while Kebbi will focus on graphics, fashion, and agriculture. Participants will receive complete training kits upon completion.
