FG Equips 700 Oyo Youths with Skills for Economic Growth

The Federal Government of Nigeria has initiated the expansion of its National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy, targeting to assist about five million Nigerians over the next four years. As part of this initiative, 700 youths in Oyo State were trained, receiving vocational skills, digital devices, and business starter kits.
Dr Abiola Arogundade, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education, announced this at a graduation ceremony on October 9, 2026, at the Kensington Adebutu Hall, University of Ibadan. The training program, which ran from September 28 to October 9, 2026, aimed to address unemployment and equip participants for the digital economy.
Specific training included artificial intelligence, graphics design, make-up artistry, and fashion design. Graduates received various tools to support their business endeavors and were encouraged to extend their skills to their communities.
Mrs Oluronke Shonubi emphasized the importance of integrating artificial intelligence training for young Nigerians.
