Nigeria and Finland Sign MoU on Digital Innovation

On Tuesday, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Nigerian government and Finland to foster collaboration in digitalization and innovation. The agreement was signed in Abuja by Bosun Tijani, Nigeria's Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, and Jarno Syrjälä, Finland's Secretary of State for International Trade.

This MoU aims to establish a framework for cooperation in areas such as digital governance, emerging technologies, cybersecurity, and the development of a digital public infrastructure. Tijani described the agreement as a significant step in strengthening bilateral ties and promoting an inclusive, innovation-driven digital economy.

The partnership builds on earlier discussions held in Helsinki regarding digital infrastructure collaboration. Additionally, Finland will lead a €23 million initiative to enhance Nigeria's digital public services and support a program aimed at developing 3 million technical talents, funded by the European Union.

This initiative is part of Finland's broader strategy to support Nigeria's digital economy.
