Nigeria, UK Sign MoUs on Migration and Business Expansion

On Wednesday evening, the Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the United Kingdom concerning migration, border security, and business expansion.

The agreements reflect both countries' commitment to a migration framework that respects national interests and international obligations. The MoUs are designed to build a safe and orderly migration system that benefits both nations.

Minister Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of these agreements in protecting Nigerian citizens and ensuring accountability for criminal activities. He also highlighted the role of the visa agreement in catalyzing socio-economic development in Nigeria.

The UK Home Secretary, Rt Hon Shabana Mahmood, acknowledged the significance of the bilateral relationship and the agreements, while Florence Eshalomi noted the potential benefits for economic growth in Nigeria, Africa's largest economy. The agreements were signed as part of ongoing discussions to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
