FG Honors D’Tigress with Houses and National Awards

The Federal Government of Nigeria, led by President Bola Tinubu, has honored the D’Tigress, the national women's basketball team, by presenting them with houses and national honors. This presentation took place in Abuja and was part of Tinubu's commitment to reward Nigerian athletes promptly, contrasting with previous administrations where promises often lingered.

Shehu Dikko, the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, and Bukola Olopade, the Director General, were present to oversee the ceremony. Dikko expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for restoring confidence in Nigerian sports and assured that cash rewards promised to the team would be paid soon.

Rena Wakama, the head coach, and team captain Ami Okonkwo also expressed their gratitude, pledging the team's commitment to continue making Nigeria proud. This initiative is seen as part of Tinubu's broader strategy to redefine sports development in Nigeria and prioritize athlete welfare.
