D’Tigress Honored with Houses and National Awards

The Nigerian women's basketball team, D’Tigress, was honored with houses and national honors by the Federal Government, fulfilling a promise made to them. The presentation took place during a ceremony led by Shehu Dikko, the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, and Bukola Olopade, the Director General.

Dikko emphasized the current government's commitment to rewarding excellence in sports without delay, contrasting it with past administrations where promises were often unfulfilled. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for restoring confidence in Nigerian sports and assured that cash rewards previously promised would soon be disbursed.

Olopade highlighted the administration's focus on redefining sports development in Nigeria to align with global standards and ensuring athletes are properly rewarded. Musa Kida, President of the Nigerian Basketball Federation, and Rena Wakama, the head coach, also expressed their gratitude for the support, while team captain Ami Okonkwo pledged the team's commitment to national success.
