FG Applauds Redeemer’s Health Village Robotic Surgery Launch

The Federal Government has commended Redeemer’s Health Village (RHV) for launching a Robotic Surgery Programme, which is seen as a crucial advancement in Nigeria's healthcare system and a means to combat medical tourism. On Saturday, August 22, 2026, at a dinner luncheon at the Radisson Blu Anchorage Hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, Dr Iziaq Adekunle Salako, the Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, emphasized that robotic surgery exemplifies RHV's commitment to modern healthcare technology.

He noted that this surgical method offers enhanced precision, minimally invasive procedures, quicker recovery times, and improved patient outcomes. Dr Salako stated that the initiative aligns with the Federal Government's health transformation agenda, aiming to reverse the trend of medical tourism and conserve foreign exchange.

He acknowledged the private sector's role in healthcare delivery and mentioned government initiatives like the Presidential Initiative on Unlocking Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC) to bolster local healthcare capacity. Additionally, he praised RHV for its structured training program for surgeons in robotic surgery.
