Nigeria Appoints New Ambassadors to UK, France, UN

The Nigerian government has officially issued letters of credence to three newly appointed ambassadors: Aminu Dalhatu, designated as the Ambassador to the United Kingdom; Ayodel Ok, appointed as the Ambassador to France; and Jimoh Ibrahim, who will serve as Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. The ceremony took place under the auspices of the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, who presented the letters on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

During the event, the Minister explained that these documents serve as formal approval from the Nigerian government, allowing the ambassadors to act in their official capacities in their respective host countries. The Minister congratulated the ambassadors and wished them success in their upcoming duties.

President Tinubu had previously approved the appointment of 65 ambassadors and high commissioners, with the list including both career and non-career diplomats, which is set to be confirmed by the Senate by December 2025. Following this confirmation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will begin an orientation program for the ambassadors, who are expected to resume their duties upon receiving final government approval.
