FG Vows to Combat Terrorism and Ensure Safety of Citizens

Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information for the Federal Government of Nigeria, addressed the nation regarding the ongoing threats posed by kidnappers and terrorists, which he stated aim to weaken national unity and undermine institutions. During a special briefing in Abuja, Idris emphasized that the fight against insecurity requires partnership and trust among citizens and security agencies.

He assured Nigerians of the government's commitment to protecting lives and properties, particularly in light of recent abductions of students and teachers in Oyo and Borno states. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has prioritized the safe return of all abducted individuals, stating that no child should be held captive.

The government is deploying specialized rescue teams and increasing security presence in vulnerable communities. Idris urged the media to avoid amplifying terrorist narratives and to support efforts in providing credible information to combat terrorism, reinforcing that attacks against Nigerians are attacks against the state.
