FG Calls for Unity Against Terrorism in Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria has rallied citizens, media, and security agencies to form a united front against terrorism, as articulated by Minister Mahamud Idris during a press briefing in Abuja. Idris stressed that defeating terrorism requires a collective response that transcends political, ethnic, and religious differences.

He emphasized that terrorism poses a threat to national peace and security, urging Nigerians to unite against violent extremism. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains fully committed to ensuring the safe return of abducted schoolchildren and teachers from recent attacks in Oyo and Borno states.

The government is intensifying intelligence gathering and surveillance operations to rescue victims and bring perpetrators to justice. Recent military operations have reportedly neutralized 50 terrorists and dismantled criminal camps across various regions.

The government also initiated Nigeria's largest terror prosecution exercise, with hundreds of terror suspects currently undergoing trial, reinforcing the legal framework against terrorism. Idris appealed to the media for responsible reporting to avoid amplifying terrorist narratives.
