Federal Government Empowers Oyo Youths with Skills Training

The Federal Government commenced a vocational and digital skills training program in Oyo State on September 28, 2026, aimed at equipping young Nigerians with entrepreneurial skills. Organized under the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education, the program will run until October 9, 2026.

It focuses on three areas: Graphics and Artificial Intelligence (AI), makeup, and fashion designing, with 200 selected youths participating. Dr Abiola Arogundade, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education, stated that the initiative aims to help Nigerians transition from poverty to prosperity by providing practical skills for business creation.

Participants will receive equipment such as laptops for AI and graphic design, makeup kits, and sewing machines to facilitate immediate application of their skills post-training. The graduation ceremony is scheduled for October 9, 2026, where 500 tablets will also be distributed.
