Nigeria Partners with China for 10,000 Housing Units

The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed readiness to collaborate with private investors to reduce the country's housing deficit, which is estimated at 17 million units. During a meeting on Tuesday, Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Muttaqha Rabe Darma, presented a proposal from China Hywai Group Limited to construct 10,000 resettlement housing units across Nigeria.

The government will provide land in various parts of the country, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and local government areas, ensuring all legal and administrative requirements are met. This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to expand access to affordable housing through partnerships with the private sector.

The Minister emphasized the government's commitment to creating an investor-friendly environment and facilitating access to land necessary for viable housing projects.
