FG Orders TV Coverage of Ongoing Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway Construction

The Federal Government has instructed a television station to provide weekly coverage of the ongoing construction of the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway. This move is aimed at ensuring transparency and keeping Nigerians informed about the progress of the project.

Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, issued the directive during an inspection tour of the highway and bridge in Lagos. He emphasized the importance of showcasing the construction process to the public to address allegations of irregularities and demonstrate the effort and quality of work being put into the project.

The project, awarded to Hitech Construction Company, involves deep excavation and refilling with stone and sand to guarantee durability. Umahi also directed detailed records of each construction stage to be kept and made available to oversight agencies by the end of September.

The project, which began in March 2024, is expected to be completed by the possible second tenure of President Bola Tinubu.
