FG Unveils Housing Roadmap to Boost Home Ownership

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, led by Minister Mu'taqha Darma, is set to unveil a housing roadmap by the end of May 2023. This strategy aims to expand home ownership across Nigeria through public-private partnerships (PPPs).

During the second edition of the Renew Hope Housing Public-Private Partnership Summit in Abuja, Darma outlined that the ministry's strategic plan is designed to transform housing delivery and drive economic growth. The framework will involve collaboration with private sector stakeholders to implement housing policies and projects.

The ministry has ongoing housing projects in Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State, Kano State, and Karsana, Abuja. Upon completion, the ministry intends to scale housing delivery nationwide.

Darma also announced plans to deliver 1,550 housing units for military personnel to improve their living conditions. He confirmed that 15,000 housing units will be available for Nigerian families within three months, accommodating approximately 60,000 individuals.
