Nigeria's Power Minister Unveils National Call Centre for Complaints

The Federal Government is launching a national call centre to address electricity complaints across Nigeria, as announced by Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe. This initiative was revealed during the commissioning of a three-megawatt hybrid mini-grid project and a renewable energy workshop at Yakubu Gowon University in Abuja.
Tegbe stated that the call centre will facilitate the lodging and resolution of electricity-related issues and create sustainable job opportunities for youth. Additionally, the government plans to implement a dedicated reporting channel for vandalism of electricity assets, collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the EFCC.
The mini-grid project is expected to benefit 58,726 students and improve campus security with 388 streetlights. Tegbe emphasized the importance of preserving these facilities and the connection between infrastructure and human capability, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Abba Aliyu, managing director of the Rural Electrification Agency, discussed the establishment of the Renewable Asset Management Company to manage renewable energy infrastructure effectively.
