Obi Claims FG Plotting Against His 2027 Presidential Bid

Peter Obi, a presidential candidate from the Labour Party, claimed on Friday that the Federal Government is attempting to obstruct his bid for the 2027 presidential elections. Speaking at a leadership program organized by the NextGen Mentorship Leadership Initiative at Madonna University in Okija, Anambra State, Obi stated that he is aware of efforts to ensure he does not appear on the ballot.

He emphasized his commitment to the democratic process and expressed confidence that the Nigerian people would ultimately prevail. Obi's comments followed a judgment from the Federal High Court in Lokoja, Kogi State, which set aside an earlier ruling regarding the registration of the Labour Party with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He asserted that attempts to derail his political aspirations would fail. In response, Ajibola Basiru, the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urged Obi to pursue his grievances through the courts rather than criticizing the judiciary.
