Nigeria Alerts on Alleged Plot Against Tinubu's UK Visit

The Federal Government of Nigeria has expressed alarm over an alleged coordinated attempt to embarrass President Bola Ahmed Tinubu before his scheduled state visit to the United Kingdom. This plot is reportedly aimed at discrediting Nigeria's mining sector, particularly through claims involving the revocation of mining licenses.

The allegations are linked to Jupiter Ltd, an international mining company, which the government insists is false and intended to mislead foreign audiences. The Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Segun Tomori, clarified that the revocation of licenses pertains to Basin Mine Ltd, a Nigerian-registered company associated with Australian national Steve Davi, due to the company's failure to meet financial obligations.

The government emphasized that there is no formal relationship with Jupiter Ltd and dismissed claims of license transfers to Chinese companies as misleading. The statement highlighted ongoing reforms in Nigeria's mining sector aimed at promoting transparency and responsible investment.
