FG Revokes Over 1,200 Mineral Licenses to Boost Mining Sector

The Federal Government of Nigeria revoked 1,263 mineral exploration licenses nationwide, including 584 exploration licenses, 65 mining leases, 144 quarry licenses, and 470 mining leases. Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, announced the revocation to create new opportunities for investors in the mining sector.

The move aims to encourage fresh applications and enhance transparency in the industry. The decision followed the publication of defaulters in the Federal Government Gazette on June 19, 2025.

The revocation is part of efforts to recover outstanding fees and ensure compliance with regulations, signaling a commitment to revitalizing the mineral exploration sector.
