Nigerian Government Revokes 1,263 Mineral Licenses to Boost Investor Opportunities

The Nigerian government has revoked 1,263 mineral licenses to sanitize the mining sector. The revocation includes 584 exploration licenses, 65 mining leases, and 144 quarry licenses.

This move aims to create opportunities for investors by deleting the licenses from the Electronic Mining Cadastral system. Minister Alake emphasized the need to keep speculators away and encourage serious investors.

The revocation does not imply payment of annual fees and is expected to spur fresh applications from diligent investors. This action aligns with President Bola Tinubu's administration's efforts to reform the mining sector and attract capable and industrious businessmen.
