FG Engages Banks to Enhance Revenue Collection Efficiency

The Federal Government of Nigeria is engaging banks to optimize revenue collection through a digital platform designed to modernize the country's revenue collection process. This initiative was discussed during a sensitization workshop held in Abuja, coordinated by the Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele.

The platform, referred to as "Revop," aims to replace fragmented manual processes that have hindered effective revenue collection for decades. Oyedele noted that while significant progress has been made, challenges remain, particularly regarding bank personnel's familiarity with the platform.

The workshop aimed to deepen understanding of the platform and clarify operational processes. Oluwatoyin Madein, representing the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, emphasized the need for strategic tools to improve revenue collection and compliance.

Adebayo Adewal disclosed that 70% of federal government-owned entities have already adopted the platform. The initiative is part of a broader effort to streamline revenue collection and eliminate existing silos within the system.
