FG Aims for Early Completion of Abuja-Keffi Highway Project

The Federal Government of Nigeria, under the leadership of Minister of Works David Umahi, is targeting the early completion of the Abuja-Keffi highway project, which involves the reconstruction of a 43.65-kilometer stretch of road. During an inspection of the ongoing project in Nasarawa State, Umahi expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work being executed by China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd, which is responsible for the Keffi-bound carriageway.

The project is expected to be completed by March 1, 2028, and includes ancillary infrastructure such as solar-powered streetlights to enhance safety along the corridor. Umahi urged contractors to maintain quality standards and warned against compromising on project execution, emphasizing that the government will no longer tolerate poorly executed projects.

He also directed contractors to prioritize outstanding portions of the road and to communicate any challenges promptly. The inspection attracted key stakeholders, including members of the Senate and House of Representatives, who pledged legislative support for the project's success.
