FG Urges Regional Commissions to Complete Ongoing Projects

The Federal Government, represented by Minister Abubakar Momoh, has urged regional commissions to prioritize the completion of ongoing projects and to avoid duplicating efforts. This directive was issued during a two-day sector retreat held in Benin, Edo State, aimed at fostering leadership among the seven regional development commissions.

The retreat, themed "Fresh Ideas to Unlock the Potential of the Region," emphasized the rationale behind the establishment of these commissions under President Bola Tinubu's administration. Momoh highlighted the need for a geospatial development strategy that targets multi-sector areas to drive economic and social transformation.

He cautioned against commencing new projects without a thorough assessment of existing ones and stressed the importance of investing in critical infrastructure such as roads, bridges, healthcare delivery, and digital connectivity. The retreat also introduced a peer review system among the commissions to enhance healthy competition and continuous improvement, with the goal of delivering on promises made to the people of the region.
