Minister Momoh Urges Completion of Regional Projects

Abubakar Momoh, the Minister of Regional Development, issued a warning to regional commissions regarding the abandonment of projects and the risks of duplicating efforts during a retreat held in Benin. He highlighted the importance of completing existing projects before embarking on new ones, stressing the need for a substantial assessment of their impact.

Momoh reminded the commissions that President Bola Tinubu initiated the ministry to focus on geo-spatial development without political bias, advocating for a multi-sectoral approach to drive economic and social transformation. He urged the commissions to prioritize investments in critical infrastructure, including roads, bridges, healthcare delivery, and digital infrastructure, to achieve equitable and sustainable development.

The retreat aimed to foster healthy competition among commissions and improve collaboration, with plans to introduce a peer review system. Edo State Governor, Denni Idahosa, also emphasized the importance of working together to address Nigeria's uneven development path.
