FG and UNDP Launch Regional Development Policy Workshops

The Federal Government of Nigeria, in collaboration with UNDP Nigeria, is intensifying efforts to harmonize regional development initiatives across the country through a new policy framework aimed at promoting coordinated and inclusive growth. This initiative, led by the Ministry of Regional Development, will commence zonal technical validation workshops across six geopolitical zones starting on May 11, 2026, to refine the draft national regional development policy for 2026-2030.

The final phase will involve stakeholder engagement to consolidate the policy before it is presented to the Federal Executive Council for approval. The workshops will take place in Enugu (May 11), Port Harcourt (May 13), Lafia (May 25), Ibadan (June 3), Kano (June 8), and Maiduguri (June 10), with a national consolidation session scheduled for Abuja on June 24, 2026.

The policy aims to address regional disparities and unlock economic opportunities, with a focus on a people-centric and locally driven development approach.
