FG Aims to Complete 570MW Alaoji Plant by 2027

The Federal Government of Nigeria is set to complete the 570MW Alaoji Plant by the third quarter of 2027. Adighij, a member of the committee overseeing the project, informed lawmakers that the company has taken steps to address previous delays.

She explained that the management has compelled the contractor to submit revised recovery plans to ensure timely project completion. Due to prior experiences with slippage, the contractor's recovery plan is crucial.

The initial target for project completion was set for the end of the year, which is no longer feasible. The management is focused on providing necessary support in terms of engineering and financial resources to meet contractor obligations.

Victor Nwokolo, chairman of the committee, observed tangible efforts by the company to recover critical equipment necessary for the project's completion. He noted that infrastructure projects across the power sector are often hampered by delays, particularly due to the importation of equipment through Nigerian seaports, especially for the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
