BPP Expands Procurement Reforms to States and LGAs
The Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), led by Director-General Dr. Adebowale A. Adedokun, is initiating the extension of procurement reforms, ethical standards, and digital transformation to state and local governments in Nigeria.
This effort aims to strengthen procurement policies at the sub-national level, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s directive for direct allocations to these governments. During a procurement capacity building program in Port Harcourt, Adedokun emphasized the importance of maintaining standard procedures as states and local governments receive increased allocations.
Over 700 participants registered for the training, with about 350 attending. Adedokun announced the establishment of a Procurement Academy and Excellence Programme, which will serve as a mandatory training institution for procurement officers across all government levels.
This program aims to foster mentorship and share best practices. Engr. Dr. Ine T.
Briggs, Director-General of the Bureau of Public Procurement in Rivers State, praised the federal efforts to bridge knowledge gaps and highlighted the supportive environment provided by Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
