Nigeria to Invest N12 Billion in Digital Economy Research Projects

The Nigerian Federal Government has unveiled a N12 billion fund to support digital economy research projects, emphasizing AI, digital skills, and research capacity building. Led by Bosun Tijani, the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy will oversee three research clusters involving six universities nationwide.

This initiative aims to boost Nigeria's competitiveness in the global digital economy, reduce reliance on foreign technology, and equip the youth for future work demands. The investment also seeks to decentralize innovation beyond major cities like Lagos and Abuja, promoting transparency and public-private collaboration.
