FG to Establish Aircraft Leasing Company to Boost Nigerian Airlines

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through Minister Festus Keyamo, has revealed plans to create an aircraft leasing company to bolster local airlines. This initiative aims to empower Nigerian carriers by providing them with easier access to aircraft without navigating the complex global market alone.

The leasing company will have a capital base to support local airlines, attract global investors, and enhance operational efficiency and safety standards in the Nigerian aviation sector. The first dry lease aircraft, a Boeing 737-700, was recently received by Air Peace at Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos, marking a significant milestone for the Nigerian aviation industry.
