FG Unveils Roadmap to Standardize Traditional Medicine in Nigeria

The Nigerian Federal Government has unveiled a roadmap to standardize traditional medicine, aiming to integrate it into the national healthcare system. As part of efforts to strengthen evidence-based traditional medicine practices, the government plans to invest more, regulate better, and collaborate internationally.

During the 2025 African Traditional Medicine Day in Abuja, Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Iziaq Salako, introduced key documents including a Strategic Plan and a Code of Ethics for Traditional Medicine Practitioners. The goal is to ensure safety, quality, and standardization of traditional medicine, creating job opportunities and improving healthcare through local manufacturing.

This initiative aligns with the government's commitment to transforming traditional medicine into a respected part of the nation's health architecture.
