Nigerian Government Launches Trade Tools for Global Access

On October 22, 2026, the Federal Government unveiled the Trade Intelligence Tools developed by the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment (FMITI) in Abuja. The initiative aims to help Nigerian businesses, particularly micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), access global markets, attract investments, and support the ambition of achieving a $1 trillion economy by 2030.
Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, stated that the tools would provide reliable market information to identify export destinations and understand tariffs. She identified barriers such as high production costs and limited access to finance that need addressing to enhance competitiveness.
The initiative builds on a previous edition launched in November 2025 and includes the 2026 Trade Intelligence Report, which analyzes trade and investment developments. The launch also promoted CANEX WKND 2026, scheduled for November 5–8 in Lagos, aimed at connecting Nigeria's creative industries with international markets.
