FG Launches ₦10m Youth Agribusiness Fund for Farmers

The Federal Government of Nigeria launched the Youth Agribusiness Land Trust Fund (YIALTF) on Monday in Abuja, aimed at expanding youth participation in agriculture. During the launch, ten young farmers received grants of ₦1 million each to scale their agribusiness ventures.

The initiative, led by the Federal Ministry of Youth Development in partnership with the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), seeks to tackle significant challenges faced by young farmers, particularly in accessing land. Comrade Ayodel Olawand, the Minister of Youth Development, described the initiative as a transformative platform to empower young Nigerians in agriculture and attract business.

The program goes beyond land allocation, providing beneficiaries with training, access to financial mechanisms, modern technology, mentorship, and market opportunities. The government plans to convert 42 youth development centers across the country into agribusiness hubs, aiming to train six million young Nigerians and support the establishment of at least 500,000 youth-led agribusiness enterprises nationwide within three years.
