FG Appeals to NUPENG and NLC to Halt Strike Against Dangote Group

The Federal Government of Nigeria has urged the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) to reconsider their planned nationwide strike against the Dangote Group. The Minister of Labour and Employment, Muhammad Maigari Dingyadi, intervened and called for dialogue to resolve the dispute, highlighting the potential devastating consequences on the economy and citizen welfare.

The government has scheduled a conciliation meeting for September 8, 2025, to address the issues. NUPENG and NLC have been urged to withdraw their strike plans and red alert.

The focus is on resolving the alleged practices of the Dangote Group through peaceful means to avoid disruptions in the petroleum sector and national economy.
