FG Alerts Nigerians to Fake ₦50,000 Allowance Scam

The Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Poverty Reduction, has officially warned Nigerians about a scam regarding a purported ₦50,000 national support allowance. The ministry stated that it has not commenced any registration for this allowance and urged the public to disregard claims made in fraudulent messages.

These messages, which include links to a suspicious website, have been circulated in both Hausa and English, misleading vulnerable populations seeking social support. The ministry emphasized that the only reliable information will be available through official government channels.

This warning comes amid rising concerns about digital fraud targeting individuals looking for assistance, similar to previous scams related to government programs. The ministry's alert follows the circulation of a scam flyer that falsely claims the program is ongoing under the directive of President Bola Tinubu.
