FG and World Bank Collaborate to Enhance Workforce Skills

The Federal Government of Nigeria, in collaboration with the World Bank, is reinforcing its partnership to enhance the capacity of the institutional workforce across critical sectors. This initiative was highlighted during a visit by a World Bank mission team to Abuja, led by Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman Ibrahim, the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development.

The project aims to transform the legacy program designed to build professional capacity in procurement, environmental management, and social development, thereby enhancing government service delivery across Nigeria. Hajiya Ibrahim emphasized the strategic importance of investing in human capital to address emerging social challenges and strengthen the social protection system nationwide.

The initiative encompasses various sectors, including women affairs, housing, urban development, and labor. Mr. Michael Ilesanmi, a senior social development specialist and co-task team leader from the World Bank, disclosed that six centers of excellence will be established across Nigeria's geopolitical zones to facilitate specialized training.

The program offers fully funded government scholarships for students and professionals seeking career advancement in the public, private, and non-profit sectors.
