FG and IFAD Distribute Inputs to 1,918 Nasarawa Farmers

The Federal Government, in partnership with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP), has launched the distribution of improved agricultural inputs to 1,918 farmers in Nasarawa State. This initiative aims to enhance rice and cassava production across the state.

The program, coordinated by Dr. Eunic Adigizi, was officially flagged off on Tuesday in Lafia.

It supports the cultivation of 195 hectares of rice and 140 hectares of cassava, benefiting various communities within the state. Dr.

Adigizi noted that 31 rice farmer organizations and 23 cassava farmer organizations, drawn from 76 farmer groups, will benefit from this intervention. The program is designed to provide farmers with timely access to quality inputs, reduce production costs, minimize post-harvest losses, and improve household income.

The distribution includes 9,750 kilograms of certified rice seed, 7,000 bundles of improved cassava stem, 670 liters of herbicide, 1,340 bags of NPK fertilizer, and 390 bags of urea fertilizer.
