FG, IFAD Support 1,918 Nasarawa Farmers with Inputs

The Federal Government of Nigeria, in collaboration with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), has distributed agricultural inputs and 22 tricycles to 1,918 farmers in Nasarawa State to boost rice and cassava production for the 2026 wet farming season. The distribution ceremony took place in Lafia, where Dr.

Eunic Adigizi, the program coordinator, stated that the initiative covers 195 hectares of rice and 140 hectares of cassava across various communities. The beneficiaries include 31 rice farmer organizations and 23 cassava farmer organizations, totaling 76 farmer groups.

The program supplied 9,750 kilograms of certified rice seed, 7,000 bundles of improved cassava stem, herbicides, and fertilizers. The tricycles are intended to improve transportation and market access for the farmers.

Governor Abdullahi Sule expressed support for agricultural development, emphasizing the importance of farmers in the economy. The initiative aims to reduce production costs, minimize post-harvest losses, and improve household income.
