Kogi Farmers and PWDs Receive Equipment from VCDP
The Federal Government/IFAD-Assisted Value Chain Development Programme in Kogi State distributed agricultural equipment to farmers and provided start-up packs to 33 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) on Monday in Lokoja. This initiative aims to promote inclusion, self-reliance, and sustainable livelihoods.
The distribution targeted farmers involved in production, processing, and marketing across five local government areas: Ajaokuta, Lokoja, Ibaji, Olamaboro, and Kabba-Bunu. Mr. Moses Dare, the Permanent Secretary, representing the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, emphasized the importance of inclusive development.
Dr. Stella Adejoh, the State Project Coordinator of IFAD-VCDP, stated that while farmers contributed 30% of the equipment cost, support for PWDs was provided at no cost. The items distributed included bags of rice, tables, chairs, bowls, and Point of Sale terminals.
Approximately 300 farmers received equipment such as knapsack sprayers and solar-powered pumping machines. The initiative is part of efforts to enhance agricultural value chains and improve food security in Kogi State.
