APC Senator Critiques Tinubu's Economic Policies

Mr. Abubakar Yusuf, a senator representing Taraba Central and a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), publicly criticized the economic policies of President Bola Tinubu, asserting that they have not produced the anticipated outcomes.

During a national television appearance, Yusuf emphasized growing dissatisfaction within the party regarding the administration's economic reforms, particularly in light of rising living costs and fiscal pressures across Nigeria. He pointed out that the current policy framework is ill-suited to Nigeria's realities and criticized the immediate removal of fuel subsidies, arguing that there was insufficient consultation prior to this decision.

Yusuf identified significant structural flaws in Nigeria's budget system, specifically criticizing the envelop budget model, which he claims leads to poor budget execution and persistent deficits. He called for the scrapping of the envelop budget system, highlighting that it has been ineffective and has not allowed for proper fiscal planning or execution.
