OPay Outlines Eligibility for N50,000 Relief Scheme

OPay has clarified the process for its customers to check their eligibility for the Federal Government's N50,000 monthly cash relief aimed at vulnerable Nigerians. The company stated that eligible customers would receive a pop-up notification on their OPay app homepage.
Those who do not see the notification are not eligible for the relief. OPay emphasized that it does not determine eligibility and advised customers to contact the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention (NERSI) helpline for assistance.
The fintech company also warned against scams, stating it would never request personal identification numbers or one-time passwords for processing payments. The Federal Government, through the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, Dr Bernard Doro, announced the initiative on October 30, stating that eligible beneficiaries would receive N50,000 monthly to help with essential needs.
The program will be regularly reviewed, and no application or fees are required to participate.
