OPay and Moniepoint Warn Nigerians of NERSI Scams

OPay and Moniepoint have alerted Nigerians to be vigilant against fraudsters exploiting the Federal Government's N50,000 monthly National Economic Stabilisation and Recovery Initiative (NERSI) relief programme. The companies warned that scammers may deceive individuals into providing banking details or paying fees to access the benefit.
They clarified that legitimate access to the support does not require payment to agents or sharing confidential information. Eligible customers will receive a notification on their app and can check their eligibility by dialing *955*20#.
OPay stated that it does not determine eligibility and that customers without the NERSI feature on their app are not eligible. They also advised customers to contact NERSI at 0700-022-2222 for assistance.
Moniepoint confirmed that beneficiaries would not incur hidden fees or SMS charges. Both companies reiterated that they would never ask for customers' PINs, OTPs, or processing fees.
