Nigeria Commits to 90,000 km Fiber Internet Project

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, has reiterated its commitment to ensuring fiber-based internet connectivity for all Nigerians.

This initiative includes a significant 90,000 km fiber optic cable project designed to enhance internet access in every region and state of the country, particularly targeting rural communities. Dr.

Tijani emphasized that this project is crucial for boosting internet connectivity among Nigerians and improving the overall quality of digital services. He noted that the project has already commenced and is expected to facilitate better monitoring of activities across the country, including cross-border movements.

The minister highlighted the importance of digital technology in strengthening society and acknowledged that while some areas have seen improvements in connectivity, there remains a need for further investment in technology to achieve comprehensive internet access nationwide.
