FIBA Africa Zone 3 Celebrates Colonel Ahmedu at 68

Colonel Samuel Ahmedu, the President of FIBA Africa Zone 3, celebrated his 68th birthday on Friday, receiving numerous tributes for his immense contributions to basketball in Nigeria and West Africa. Ahmedu, a retired Colonel of the Nigerian Army, successfully transitioned from military service to sports administration, overseeing basketball development in eight West African nations.

His tenure has been marked by significant expansion in basketball activities, including increased competitions, coaching clinics, and youth development programs. Alex Kukula, President of the Ghana Basketball Federation, praised Ahmedu's visionary leadership and commitment to youth development.

Calvin Digg, Secretary General of the Liberian Basketball Association, commended Ahmedu for revitalizing basketball in the region, particularly in Liberia, where he played a crucial role in resolving disputes within the basketball federation. Despite reaching 68, Ahmedu remains actively involved in grassroots programs and coaching clinics, earning admiration from basketball stakeholders at all levels.
