FICAN Conference to Address Banking Reforms and Fintech

The Finance Correspondents Association of Nigeria (FICAN) will host its 36th Anniversary Annual Conference in Lagos, focusing on Nigeria's banking recapitalisation programme, tax reforms, and the rapid expansion of financial technology. Scheduled for September, the conference aims to provide a platform for policymakers, regulators, and financial industry leaders to evaluate the impact of recent reforms in Nigeria’s financial sector.

The keynote address will be delivered by Dr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi, Deputy Governor of the Corporate Services Directorate at the Central Bank of Nigeria. Dr. Oliver Alawuba, Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of United Bank for Africa, will serve as the guest speaker.

Panel sessions will include representatives from various organizations, including the Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System, Fintech Association of Nigeria, OPay Digital Services Limited, Providus Bank, and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN). FICAN Chairman Chima Titus Nwokoji emphasized the conference's importance in assessing reforms and developing strategies for sustainable economic growth.
