FIFA Probes Congo FA Officials for Financial Misconduct

FIFA has confirmed the opening of disciplinary proceedings against officials of the Congo Football Federation (Fecofoot) due to allegations of financial misconduct. This announcement was made in a statement on Tuesday.

The proceedings are a direct result of the earlier conviction of Fecofoot President Jean Gui Mayola, who, along with his wife and son, was sentenced to life imprisonment by a criminal court in Brazzaville, the capital of Congo, for embezzling $1.1 million from FIFA funds. The investigation will focus on the federation's treasury, with Raoul Kanda, the General Secretary, indicating that further actions will follow the receipt of information and documentation during an audit.
