FIFA Announces 2026 U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco

FIFA confirmed that the 2026 U-17 Women’s World Cup will be held in Morocco from October 17 to November 7, 2026. This tournament will mark the second occasion that Morocco hosts this event, which has expanded to include 24 teams.

The decision is part of a multi-year agreement approved by the FIFA Council in March 2024, granting Morocco the rights to host competitions from 2025 to 2029. As the host nation, Morocco qualifies automatically, while the remaining four African slots will be determined through a qualification round scheduled from May to July 2026.

This announcement comes amid controversy involving the Confederation of African Football (CAF) regarding the outcome of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where an appeal by the Moroccan Football Federation was upheld following a disrupted final in January 2025, leading to calls for an independent investigation into alleged corruption.
