US Delivers Military Equipment to Nigerian Air Force

The United States has delivered military equipment to the Nigerian Air Force as part of efforts to bolster the security partnership between the two nations and support Nigeria's counter-terrorism operations. This delivery was disclosed by the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) on its X handle, featuring images of a U.S.

Air Force C-17 aircraft involved in the delivery. The equipment was supplied under a foreign military sales agreement.

This delivery coincides with ongoing military cooperation, including training programs initiated on August 23, where U.S. forces began training Nigerian troops in unmanned aircraft systems, combat casualty care, and other military skills at Operating Location Bauchi. The training included various military techniques and was tailored to the expertise available among U.S. forces and the needs identified by Nigerian counterparts.

Despite the withdrawal of most U.S. troops from Nigeria for a specific counter-terrorism operation in July, both countries continue to engage in military cooperation through intelligence sharing and capacity-building initiatives.
