US Forces Train Nigerian Troops in Unmanned Aircraft Systems

United States forces have initiated training for Nigerian troops in unmanned aircraft systems, combat casualty care, and various military skills at an operating location in Bauchi State, Nigeria. This training is part of a broader US-Nigeria security cooperation mission aimed at improving military capability and readiness.

The training includes Combat Lifesaver and Tactical Combat Casualty Care instruction, weapons familiarization, camouflage, water treatment and testing, explosive ordnance disposal, small-unit tactics, and unmanned aircraft systems. Capt Gabriel Feingold, a logistics officer with the US Army Southern European Task Force, stated that US units provided Nigerian leadership with a list of training options, allowing them to select areas of interest.

Sgt Mark Murphy, an intelligence analyst from the 13th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, led the training on unmanned aircraft systems, which generated significant interest among Nigerian forces. The training not only focused on technical skills but also fostered relationships and improved interoperability between US and Nigerian service members.
